The second Career Talk session held by the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Graduate Student Club (MAE GSC) on 21st October, 2014. The speaker was glad to have an audience of around 60 students from the diverse backgrounds.
The speaker, Mr Ong Eng Khim, enthusiastically shared Dyson’s story and work culture. He also gave a glimpse of his personal experience of working in this innovative company for a period of 18 years providing him with an environment where engineers of his calibre are encouraged to think differently, make mistakes and invent. The most surprising and creative gifts from Dyson to the audience where a large eraser and a pencil, for which they justified that Dyson wanted to share the idea of being able correct one’s mistakes at any point. The students were eager to propose their ideas and solutions towards the problems put forth by the speaker during his inspiring talk. Finally the students flocked with their queries about future career prospects in the company.
