On Friday 13th May 2016, about 170 guests gathered together at PARKROYAL on Beach Road, Singapore for an exciting, enjoyable and unforgettable evening.
This was the night where MAE professors, staff, alumni and graduates gathered, to celebrate the achievements of the MAE Class of 2016 as one big MAE family. Everyone dressed up specially for the occasion by donning suits, bow-ties and stunning dresses in Broadway style!
Prior to the dinner, guests were welcomed with unique and interactive activities at the reception area. There was Photo booth services by Cheese Effects and Keychain Caricature services by Caricaturist. SG entertained was there too and fascinated the guests with much delight.
The graduation night kick-started with a grand entrance of VIPs, where our Guest of Honour Professor Lam Khin Yong (Chief of Staff and Vice President for Research), Professor Phee Soo Jay, Louis (Chair, School of MAE), Mr Guo Sam Nam (Chief Alumni Officer, Alumni Affairs Office), Mr Soon Min Yam (Director, International Alumni Network, Alumni Affairs Office), MAE professors and alumni made their way into the grand ballroom.
Mr Shawn Michael Stewart, Chairperson of the organising committee, delivered the opening address by expressing heartfelt gratitude to MAE school for their support and dedication to the MAE Class of 2016, and thanking the Alumni Affairs Office for their support, the Platinum Sponsors - Microsoft, Parkroyal, STA Travel and Great Eastern for their generous sponsorship, and all the parties involved that have put in their hard work and dedication into the success of the event. On behalf of the organising committee, he also expressed appreciation to all the guests for their attendance and contribution towards a memorable evening. This was followed by a speech from Ms Chan Sook Chong Jean (Vice-President of MAE Alumni Association) encouraging graduates to participate in activities organised by the MAE Alumni Association, and to tap on it as a bridging platform to keep in touch with one another.
The night preceded with the celebrity emcee, Justin Dominic Misson who led the audience with a night filled with lots of laughter and entertainment. The sumptuous eight-course meal was served when the CAC Guitar Ensemble warmed the crowd with their favourite instrumental songs. The emcee then raised the tempo by conducting numerous interactive games with the graduates.
Lucky draw prizes were given out as everyone enjoyed their meal. There were countless hilarious moments when the guests were invited by the emcee to play games and to perform on the stage. Special prizes were awarded to the best dressed male and female graduates who had dressed up well as recommended by their peers.
As the event drew to a close, the top lucky draw prizes were given out by Professor Phee Soo Jay, Louis. A few lucky winners return home beaming with attractive prizes such as the Microsoft Surface Pro 3, Apple iPad Air 2 and STA travel vouchers.
