Research Areas

Research in the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering centres around its four-fold mission statement:

  • To undertake fundamental research and applied innovation in support of the national economy
  • To actively participate in the creation of leading-edge-knowledge and technology
  • To support teaching through the acquisition of new knowledge
  • To establish the School as a leader in research and teaching

In recent years, the School has witnessed a dramatic increase in research manpower. Presently, the School has about 230 academic and research staff members undertaking advanced collaborative research and development projects with local industries as well as internationally renowned institutions. Their efforts are supported by a large population of local and overseas graduate students many of whom are working towards their PhD degrees. The School has also excellent state-of-the-art facilities supporting a wide range of research.
